Re: 1090 - APL Lives!

Just wanted to update w/ regards to this. I got AC on the Live Archive equivalent. https://icpcarchive.ecs.baylor.edu/index.php?option=com_onlinejudge&Itemid=8&category=44&page=show_problem&problem=2786 Then w/o making any modifications to my code, I get PE when I submit the exact same code to UVA. ...

Re: 204 - Robot Crash

This precision error is driving me nuts... @brianfry713: Any hint as to how you handled the precision issue? I'm really itching to get this AC since I think I'm really close already. Out of the several judge test cases, I think there is just one where I fail at. (Just one, which is either a me...

Re: 204 - Robot Crash

Haha, thanks lighted. Although, I decided to do that because I wanted it to output to both the console and a separate file for this particular problem due to the fact that it can take a while for my code to run through 5000 lines of input, depending on the values produced by the random input generat...

Re: 204 - Robot Crash

Okay, so I've decided to post my code for everyone's info, since I've been trying to solve it but the error is really mysterious and this is the last problem in the 1990 set I've got left... A few notes to consider: 1.) I consider my algorithm not really optimized. Running it through 5000 test cases...

Re: 204 - Robot Crash

I ran your code on more random test cases and it passes them, maybe you have a small precision error or something. Just a question, did you place the epsilon when you displayed the floating point numbers? As of now, I have the epsilon in the ff: - When checking if the lines overlap ex: ((secondGun....

Re: 203 - Running Lights Visibility Calculator

Finally! Accepted after a lot of frustration! Oh my goodness, sharing with me where you put those EPSILONs really, really, really, really helped!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Thank you so much brianfry713! I can't thank you enough! :D

Re: 203 - Running Lights Visibility Calculator

That's so helpful. Thanks! Could you clarify how you handled the epsilon when displaying floating point numbers? I finally found a test case where my program and uDebug (your solution) outputs different values: Gotcha! 2 Ownship 0.0 0.0 0.0 1.0 ShouldBe1.01 1.005 0.0 111.1 2.2 ShouldBe1.02 1.015 0.0...

Re: 203 - Running Lights Visibility Calculator

Hi, thanks for that. Do I also add the Epsilon conditions for the lights? I've done it for the conditional statements which are relevant in the computational stuff. Adding it to determine the lights messes my outputs up. Is there anything wrong with the algorithm for determining the lights? I feel l...

Re: 203 - Running Lights Visibility Calculator

Okay, I've decided to return to this problem...I basically re-did everything, noting that this problem is straight forward. I've tried all the sample I/O in this thread, and they all match the output, but I keep getting WA! Here is my code. I'm posting it for anyone's info. Basically, it's a very st...

Re: 204 - Robot Crash

So apparently, there was an error in my calculation which got the collision incorrectly.

@brianfry713, I managed to make my program's output produce the same output as your solution in udebug, but I still get WA. :( :( Do you have anymore critical cases?

Thanks!

Re: 595 - A Major Problem

Wow, thanks for that test case brianfry713. I made a quick assumption just because B# was considered as invalid (despite the fact that it is a valid, albeit unconventional scale) in the sample input. But then, I misinterpreted this: The scale will contain each letter from A to G once and only once, ...

Re: 595 - A Major Problem

Any critical inputs? I'm not sure if I missed something out which is why I'm getting WA (or I misread the problem w/ regards to the sharps and flats). Input: C C C D E F G A B * C Db C D E F G A B * C D C D E F G A B * C Eb C D E F G A B * C E C D E F G A B * C F C D E F G A B * C Gb C D E F G A B *...

Re: 204 - Robot Crash

Thanks brianfry713! My answers are way off! I'm guessing most of them is because of this: Assume that a=b only if |a-b| < ? = 10-7 For this test case: -3864.484941 0.139702 -74.881730 28.292878 -569.810049 0.363168 104.844677 34.725782 My robots do not collide according to my algorithm, but yo...

Re: 204 - Robot Crash

Has anyone gotten this accepted recently? I've been getting WAs recently. Anymore test cases

The problems from the 1990 world finals sure are tricky! DX
